  Seeking help.

My name is Du Xiaohong, 70 years old. I graduated from the College of Science at Northeast University in 1982 and retired from Shenyang University of Technology in 2010. I hold the title of Associate Professor and have been engaged in teaching basic courses in the Mathematics Department of the College of Science for nearly 40 years.

My mother, Li Peihui, was born in 1930 in Dawang Village, Datong County, Shanxi, and passed away on January 16 this year at the age of 95.

My maternal grandfather, Li Runson, graduated from the Law Department of Chaoyang University in Beijing in 1931. At the end of 1940, through the introduction of his cousin Li Runyi, he passed an examination and was appointed as a civil political instructor with the rank of lieutenant colonel and senior colonel at the Seventh Branch of the Whampoa Military Academy in Wangqu, Xi’an (also known as the Central Army Officer School Seventh Branch). After the Seventh Branch was closed in August 1945, my grandfather successively worked at Zhongzheng Middle School, Xi’an Southeast Middle School, and Xi’an No.1 Middle School. He passed away in Xi’an in 1962 at the age of 59.

My mother often mentioned stories about her father, Mr. Li Runson, and her uncle Mr. Li Runyi.

Mr. Li Runyi and my grandfather Li Runson were from the same

clan and studied together in Beijing in their early years. Mr. Li Runyi graduated from Peking University with a degree in law, then studied administrative law at the Imperial University of Japan. Later, both served as political instructors at the Seventh Branch of the Whampoa Military Academy in Xi’an, sharing a deep bond and an inseparable connection.

In the summer of 1947, following the land reform home town in Datong, Shanxi, my grandmother took my mother from Datong, passed through Baotou, crossed the Yellow River, and temporarily stayed in Ningxia, preparing to go to Xi’an to join my grandfather. In the winter of 1948, Mr. Li Runyi's mother took the same path to Xi’an to join her son, but tragically died on the ice while crossing the Yellow River. Subsequently, my grandfather accompanied Li Runyi from Xi’an to Ningxia to handle the family’s affairs, which was extremely difficult given it was during the Chinese Civil War.

In 1949, Mr. Li Runyi went to Taiwan, and the brothers lost contact thereafter. In Taiwan, Mr. Li Runyi held positions at National Taiwan University, National Defense University, and the Armed Forces University, and also served as a Grand Justice in the Judicial Yuan. He passed away on October 1, 1982, at the Taipei Air Force General Hospital. He authored works including "Li Runyi's Autobiography," "Introduction to Law," and "Nation Building and the Rule of Law."

In recent years, I have organized and read some of my grandfather Li Runson's writings and letters regarding his experiences at the Seventh Branch of the Whampoa Military Academy in Xi’an from 1940 to 1945, but have obtained very little information. I sincerely hope that, with the help of friends, I can find the descendants of Mr. Li Runyi in Taiwan to fill this precious historical gap. I would be deeply grateful. My contact

  Cell phone numeral is (86)13940220464.

Thanks a lot Du xiaohong 2025.10.30
